Vacancy: Store Manager Hampton

1. The company

Prospect Wines operate company owned and franchisee owned specialty wine stores.

Our shops do not sell any spirits, standard beers, cask wine or branded commercial wines. We exclusively sell our own brand of wines, plus a range of premium & imported beers. We range about 100 different wines from all regions of Australia covering all wine styles.

We are a young expanding company with plans to open further franchised stores in Melbourne and regional Victoria.

2. The Job

There is a vacancy at our Hampton shop for a Manager to commence end of June 2007.

The shop is currently open 7 days per week, but of course we do not expect our Managers to work the whole time. Our Managers are responsible for organising the roster to ensure adequate staff levels and hiring of casual staff required. Our Managers work a 5 day week, with Saturday being one of the days we expect you to work.

The Manager will be expected to be proactive in chasing new business and will be required to do some telemarketing for new fundraising and corporate customers.

All stock comes from our own central warehouse, and the manager is responsible for stock ordering, and has control over initial gross profit. You will operate within guidelines set by head office, but you will also have the opportunity to add your own style and personality to the job.

3. The Person

Our shops operate most of the time with minimal staff, in fact usually with only one person. As a result you will need to self motivated, a wine lover, enthusiastic and you will have good communication skills. You are methodical and well organised. You have good computer skills. You are prepared to look for new business opportunities in return for a great bonus incentive. Our shops are run a bit like a winery cellar door with bottles always open for tasting. You will enjoy talking to consumers about wine, and find making a large sale a challenge and very rewarding.

You must have prior wine experience (eg wine waiter, liquor store or winery) and have had prior experience in a retail environment. Prior experience as a liquor store manager is preferred.
